Review on Fabric Scissors Tailor Sewing Shears by Heather Shaw

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really great fabric scissors with some nice accessories.

Scissors definitely not light and quite sharp. They were well lubricated and there was no sign of rust. While I haven't been able to test them thoroughly and probably won't be able to for some time, I've tried cutting multiple layers of fabric and had no problems. The grip is comfortable and despite the thickness (about 0.5 inch) of the layers of fabric I had little discomfort and I find it hard to believe that scissors could reduce the discomfort any further. Of course, a few layers of fabric didn't cause any discomfort. Other scissors are also more than adequate for their use, as they leave the ends of the thread with a very clean cut and not with torn edges. There are no small fibers protruding from the cut end, which makes threading the needle difficult. The seam ripper is nothing special, it works just as well as any other seam ripper I've used. It's certainly a nice addition for those who don't have one as they're perfect for the task and I use them to completely remove annoying labels on shirts and such. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint for me, concerns the measuring tape. The one I received has a few manufacturing defects as can be seen in the two photos I took. Personally, I already have a tape measure, and this time will be enough as a backup. I only mention this because some people may buy this set because it comes with a tape measure. I'll say it's probably not common, and you almost certainly won't come across one that's bad anyway. That being said, a tape measure is a fairly common type of tape measure. I'm not sure of the exact composition, but the outer seams should be plastic. There's definitely some other material, maybe cloth or fiberglass or something, that the plastic either covers or is integrated with. It won't stretch, at least not without undue force, and should last a lifetime and even longer if not abused. If I encounter any problems I will update my review.
