MUST READ THIS REVIEW

FYI: The remote I received is actually BETTER/different than the one pictured in the Amazon ad. The most prominent (top) image in the Amazon ad shows the keys of a keyboard with the primary function (letters) in white and the secondary function (numbers, punctuation) in blue. THAT'S NOT THE CASE. The actual remote I received is the last/seventh picture (at the time of this review). The secondary button function is actually white, which is a HUGE improvement and makes this THE BEST KEYBOARD I'VE SEEN. I've attached an image showing the difference between this keyboard (above) and another keyboard with blue secondary keys. Little things colored blue cannot be seen at all on the backlit keyboard. I think the seller is doing a great disservice and confusing people with two different photos in the ad. EVERY ILLUMINATED KEYBOARD MUST BE DESIGNED IN THAT way. It's that simple and effective! OTHER FEATURES I LIKE: The backlight is very bright. I love that the light has a switch to turn it off when you don't need it, which saves battery life. The backlight stays on for 20 seconds, which is way better than another remote I've used that only stayed on for 5 seconds (preferably between 10 and 15 seconds?). Front of this remote control needs a major overhaul. The D-Pad (directional/OK button) needs to be on top or completely separate from the other controls (in this case, the volume and page up/down buttons). I've found that I press the volume or page up/down keys FREQUENTLY when I intend to press the D-Pad (the outer ring of the "OK" button). This is very annoying. - The '0' (zero) key on the numeric keypad is next to the '9', not under the '8' which everyone is used to, so it's a little awkward and getting used to. - I feel like they wasted a button including the IR program button. I've tried several of these remotes and this is the first to have this button. Most of them are designed so that you simply press and hold a programmable button for a few seconds to put them into "training mode". Also, I found these buttons to be a bit more difficult to program compared to other remotes. I really wish there were dedicated fast forward/rewind buttons on my media remote. The buttons included here (and most remote controls) are used to move forward/backward to the next/previous selection. I want to be able to fast forward/rewind WITHIN the selection (video or audio track) I'm currently using. For example, I hate when I have to skip dialogue in a video (like a YouTube video) and rewind 5-10 seconds. Trying to go back 5 seconds with the mouse is next to impossible. It would be much easier to do this with a dedicated button. Finally (very minor point here) I think they should have rounded the corners/edges of the remote. It would feel more comfortable in the hand. The current design has hard, very pronounced edges that are even slightly curved. It just makes it wider and less comfortable than other remotes I've used. This remote has a sensor that allows it to detect which side is up and disable the buttons on the bottom. This is done so that the buttons (below) are not accidentally pressed. So if you hold the remote at a 90 degree angle (on its side) or even upside down, the buttons won't work. This can be a problem for me when I'm lying down, leaning back in my chair, or typing on the keyboard and holding it upright. I also have a habit of holding the remote to my side when using it. The Minix Neo A2 Lite by comparison doesn't have this sensor, so works in any position - I like this better as pressing the buttons on the opposite side has never been an issue for me. While there is a lot of room for improvement (up front) I will keep this remote and hopefully get used to using it as is.

Pros
  • 👍 Backlit full-featured QWERTY keyboard makes it easy to search or type usernames and passwords etc on the website even in the dark, no more pointing and pressing.
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
