Review on πŸ“Ί Improved Amazon Basics Outdoor TV Antenna - Amplified HDTV Digital Reception, 360 Degree Rotation, 150 Mile Long Range by Christopher Kanter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Working perfectly, some functions not described

This is a large antenna that mounts on the roof or in my case the pole I used for DirecTV before I gave it up. The antenna is installed perfectly and I used the existing coax cabling so the installation was very easy for me. A fairly long coaxial cable for outdoor use is included for installation, as well as a smaller white cable that leads from the box to the TV tuner. The amplifier box needs power and is quite thick. It has a button at the top and it comes with a remote control and there is no explanation as to what that remote control does. Through experimentation I've found that pressing the button rotates the antenna and I'm not sure if it's looking for better signals or what it's doing. I think you have everything set up and after a channel scan you can make small adjustments to the alignment of the antenna to optimize the quality, but I rearranged everything and it didn't make much of a difference. The news is that the antenna seems to be quite powerful and picks up all the local stations in my area and the signal is much better than my previous smaller antenna which I just kept in my window and pointed in about the same direction as and this one was looking in new. There are no more digital artefacts and the signal is better fixed. I pointed the antenna where it works well and stopped fumbling with the remote control. I just leave the amplifier box on and everything is fine. I use a TV tuner box with a DVR and it's good for recording shows so I can watch them later. I'm not very happy with the missing information in the user manual and I'm really not sure if I even set the antenna correctly, but the main thing is to connect the TV or tuner to the set-top box ( this set-top box can be connected to 2 tuners) and then from the amplifier box to the antenna. Then connect the amplifier box to the mains and search for stations. Similar to other amplified antennas except this one is much larger and requires pole mounting. The pole that comes with it is a decent quality metal that can be roof or wall mounted on a house and while I haven't installed it for my application I've looked at it and the hardware and it seems more than enough to hold it this antenna. this is mostly plastic and aluminum. I'm happy with this antenna because the reception is much better now, but the antenna itself is big and unattractive. Not sure how much better it is with my much smaller window antenna, but I've had signal drops from some of the larger stations so I'll keep using these in the end. 3 stars may seem harsh for a product I like, but I really don't understand what to do with the remote and I think a better explanation of how it works and why you need it can be set up for others make it less confusing.
