I have only used this patch once on a hose with a small flat hole from a spike. I wanted to make sure this patch would at least save me in an emergency, and also wanted the hose to leak a bit. I prepped this spot by simply wiping it down with some water and lightly sanding it with the included sandpaper. Let me say that it far exceeded my expectations and I've been able to use my patch for about 100 miles with no noticeable loss. Air. I only had to replace the hose after getting a pinch elsewhere. When I replaced the tube, I examined the patch and found that it had almost fused to the tube. These things seem to work very well and I have no doubts that they will help me in an emergency or even save my hose from a small puncture.
