Review on Crescendo 3.1 Quart Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle for Creative Home by Mike Bigglesworth

I have had this kettle for a week now. Washed according to instructions before first use. For the first few days I noticed a chemical smell coming from the plastic on the handle and lid. It's gotten smaller, but still noticeable. After two days I noticed three or four spots on the inside of the bottom of the kettle that looked like rust but may have been discolored from the heat. I deleted them with BarKeepers Friend and they didn't come back. A small amount of black liquid also leaked from the outside seam of the teapot. It is likely that cutting fluids were used in the manufacture and not fully cleaned. Today the tea we brewed has become "tasteless". I think the black liquid outside is inside too. Now we need to find another kettle. No bottom seam next time and hopefully not in China, but that's a problem.
