Good suggestion - some tuning tips

The Schwinn 12 Function Bike Speedometer is a good piece of equipment and a very good deal at such a great price. I only use the speedometer, trip and odometer functions. I don't find other features useful, but manufacturers add additional features because it's easy to do and costs next to nothing. My comments could be improved: The installation guides in English and Spanish have omitted important details on how to install the sensor and magnet. The instructions in French are much better, but you don't need to read French to understand what to do. Look carefully at the installation diagram in French (this diagram should have been included in the instructions in English and Spanish). There is an alignment arrow (mark alignment) near the bottom of the sensor - the arrow is difficult to see without good lighting. The magnet (visor) mounted on the wheel spoke must be aligned so that it passes close to the sensor needle. The display would be greatly improved if the tenth digit was as large as the two main digits. Difficult to see the small number of tenths unless the sun shines on it. If you mount the device on the steering wheel, it makes sense to tilt it slightly forward so that more sunlight falls on the display. The only reason I would consider a different bike speedometer is because of the better speed reading. The zip ties in the kit are cream - I used black zip ties to match the bike. Cable ties are available in different colors (if you want). The wheel size entry table in the setup guide is fine, but true wheel circumference depends on the type of tires used. For greater accuracy, simply use a tape measure to measure the circumference of the wheel directly (make sure to tighten the tape measure securely). Use millimeters (1 inch = 25.4 mm) for this setting. For the tires I use on my bike with 26" wheels the circumference is 2007mm but the chart says 2073mm - more than 3% difference.

Pros
  • Digital Gauge
Cons
  • Non Automatic
