If you have saggy feet and need to keep your toes from stumbling these are great. They keep my feet at a 90 degree angle to my leg, but since they're attached with a flexible strap, I can walk up and down hills with ease. With those custom-made hard plastic braces (the standard tool that Medicare pays for [at a high cost to the government!]) walking up and down the hill normally is all but impossible. However, these things do not require an expensive customization process and are very inexpensive. Now I have them on both feet and I have extra insoles to wear with other shoes. Total investment after about 3 years: about $200. FIRST BIG WARNING: The portion of the fabric cuff that wraps around the ankle is made from a Velcro-like material to wrap snugly around the leg. Velcro wears out. SOLVED EASY: I bought a supply of inexpensive strips of black wire and wrapped them around the outside of the sleeve to strengthen the connection. SECOND BIG CAUTION: If there are issues other than simple food drops (weak muscles that hold the foot up) with the foot or its muscles and tendons, this product may not suffice. It offers no support for lateral movement of the foot. The weakening of these muscles can eventually cause me to give up foot jumping. I had a bad gait ("slaps in the face") early on and health problems aggravated the sagging foot over time. However, because I have full flexibility to move my feet and ankles, I retain strength in all of the other ankle muscles. Of course, as the disease progresses, I need a regular [expensive] flexible corset. This is going to mean a big fight with Medicare to prove I need something other than those dangerous hard plastic braces. I'll deal with that when the time comes.
