These devices are essential to protect your motorhome's water lines when connecting to pressurized water systems. You don't know what pressure drops can occur and there is only a limited amount of pressure your RV's plumbing system can handle. Of course you don't want the pipes in your expensive motorhome to burst. The manufacturer of my RV recommends using a pressure regulator, as do most RVs on the internet. At the time I bought these the other major brand was cheaper but I see they cost the same today. I've also seen the recommendation to turn off the outside water supply as you head out for the day because you don't want to be the person who comes back in the evening after a hike or swim and sees water running out the door. I follow this advice too!
