I bought this as a cheap alternative to the 'real' device, but I only use it for field testing and/or the occasional job where the switch doesn't have any ethernet ports open. As for working with Cisco switches I can confirm it works and works well (used on Catalyst 2960, 3560 and 3750). However, for some reason resetting the switch or port does not activate gbic. You need to manually disconnect and reconnect the device to the switch. If you can handle that, then this thing is for you. Update: After my review, macroreer contacted me about my problems with gbic. They have since sent me 2 new updated GBICs which no longer have the same issues as before. I tested this for accuracy but still tested for reliability.
