This seemed like an interesting approach to chain lubrication, so I decided to give it a try. I figured it would be less messy, more accurate, and less wasteful than spraying lube. After a few chain maintenance intervals, however, I will fall back on "traditional" chain lubricating spray. Chain and pendulum for wiping. I ended up unscrewing the tip of the applicator from the tube and using it like a small brush, which turned out to be more cumbersome and slower than just spraying lube. Second, it is quite thick and not easy to comb. Because of this viscosity you end up using quite a bit to adequately cover the chain and then wipe off the excess - which I think would be less wasteful than spray. I've also found that it sheds more than the "dry" type spray lubes I've used. Finally - and most importantly - because it's so thick, I wonder how well it covers o-rings and gets into nooks and crannies. and cracks to lubricate the chain thoroughly. Not sure how well it lubricates more than the surface of the chain. It was worth a try, but let me save you the hassle of trying it yourself β I'm going back to plain old lube spray. . If not broken.
