Review on Topeak Wall Mount Bike Hanger by Patrick Diaz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well made hangers on trunk, transport and storage

I bought three of these as I have more bikes than there is space in my garage. I installed them side by side and learned a few things about the hardware. First you really need to find studs to install these bike hangers. The top screw that attaches the mount to the wall supports pretty much the entire weight of the bike and I don't think a drywall anchor will work properly, although I did notice that the installation kit included both drywall and wood screws . . The good news is that for installing multiple Topeak wall hangers, the fact that the studs are spaced in 16" increments down the center works well as it comes down to how much space is needed to fit multiple hangers along the Wall to attach if you vertically offset the height of the adjacent 6-8 inches so that the steering wheel does not cross. One thought you might not notice if you skip the instructions is that the plastic cover covering the hardware slides over the side and then is secured with a small screw. If you don't attach it first, the plastic will peel off the wall and look unprofessional. The only thing I complain about is the plastic skid plate that mounts to the wall to keep the rear wheel from scratching the paint. Effective. I install several different bikes depending on the time of year and usage, and the bikes come in a variety of lengths, so I didn't bother fitting this part. Saris Bike Trac is probably better in that sense as it has a long channel for both tires. On the other hand, this one has two hooks, useful for hanging bike locks, camelback, etc. in a space that would be wasted.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Hard to tell
