I am a PC builder. 168 such HDDs have passed through my hands in 4 years. The main advantage of this model is, of course, the price. For the price of 1TB from Toshiba = 500GB from WD and Seagate (I'm talking about DT01ACA100, ST500DM002, WD5000AAKX). Of the minuses, it is worth noting the lower productivity and the poor condition of the plates. When doing tests in Victoria with the new DT01ACA100, I often get 30-40 600ms sectors. Well, 200ms is also enough. The new ST500DM002, WD5000AAKX have 200ms and 600ms sectors on average 0. This, apparently, is the reason for the performance loss of the DT01ACA100. Either the plates are true, or the brake electronics catches. But, what is most strange, during the warranty period, only 3 of these HDDs out of 168 have fallen back. For example, out of 1240 pieces of WD5000AAKX for 4 years, 22 pieces died during the warranty period. Those. the percentage of marriage before the end of the guarantee is approximately the same - 1.77-1.78%. I have no information about the failure after the warranty period. In summary, the DT01ACA100 is a great option for PC builders because has a larger volume for the same price with the same percentage of rejects. I can advise consumers to buy as a good anti-crisis option. But if everything is just fine with your money, then add a little, for example, to ST1000DM003 or WD10EZEX.
