These catalpa leaves arrived large and in perfect condition! I have a 5.2 gallon aquarium and a half leaf created the perfect blackwater environment for my samurai bantam! Even my mysterious snail Gary seemed to like the leaf and hid under it. I placed it above the foliage in a corner of the tank and it sits like a little rooster hammock for the samurai to sleep in at night. I like the natural look of a darker, lighter water-like tea. It is very mesmerizing and looks much more natural than a clear colorless! My betta has never had any health issues to begin with so I can't confirm if this is the miracle cure for betta ailments as claimed on the internet. But he seems to be enjoying it a lot and is much more active. I first boiled the leaf with activated charcoal for about 5 minutes to ensure there were no pesticides or contaminants on the leaf. I highly recommend this step just to be safe and protect the health of your fish. So far, both residents of my pool seem to enjoy this new edition.
