Update: After leaving my original review, I was contacted by the seller about the condition of the product I received, and they sent me a replacement for free. I finally was able to open it and assemble it, and the finish is much cleaner. We also received all of the correct pieces, so the two tones of the ladder now visually make sense. There are still a few chips in the wood in different places, and the rungs aren't completely even on the edges, but overall what we received looks much nicer and I am happy with it. I appreciate the quality customer service and prompt response to our original issue.Original post: I am shocked at the quality of the product we received given all the rave reviews I saw for this blanket ladder prior to ordering it. We purchased the two-toned ladder (dark stain on top, white on bottom) and all the rungs we received are the dark stained ones, so it looks super weird - two of them were supposed to be white. The stain on the rungs is totally uneven and I'm not sure that the wood was even sanded before it was stained, which makes me worried that some of our blankets will snag when hung on the ladder. There are pretty sizeable chips in the wood in several places. The wood also has an intense chemical smell. When I opened the box, I had to leave the room for a couple hours because I couldn't breathe. I would not buy again and feel that I wasted my money.
