You get what you pay for

Update; a few weeks later and the cats and exhaust are working fine. Everything about the review still applies. However, you get what you pay for. It's just that the cats in the muffler shop cost 350 each and as I'm sure any reader knows you should have 2 in most cases. hard to fret considering it's about 1/4 the price my local muffler stores wanted to charge just for new cats, but. 1) The fit could be better. It's in 2 parts so all you have to do is attach connectors to the header and deal with it. Went on a Tahoe z71 03. The cross tube is about an inch shorter so it will leak. 2) man, installation is a bear. Take the time to spray head studs with a PB blaster or similar. DO NOT try to force them out. You round your head. Take your time and use a 3/8 breaker, oscillator or universal joint and extensions to remove them. The transmission stay cross member should fall if you don't cut the exhaust, but even if you do, it should fall for installation. 3) The big problem I have is the connection to the muffler is either reversed or just plain wrong. The kit comes with a gasket, but this is a ball joint and does not require a factory gasket. It may work on other models. That didn't happen with my Tahoe. All in all I saved some money. I ended up buying a new muffler from a local shop, so they cut the connection from the kit to the stock muffler and welded the new muffler right on. The cats are working. After installation, the Check Engine does not light up. If I had to do it all over again I'd probably just buy some general purpose crampons and cut and weld them at a muffler shop. You get what you pay for.
