I recently bought this because many of my knives have become dull with years of use. I sharpened one of my long knives and cut raw potatoes with it. A few minutes later I cut my thumb. This knife has never been sharper. I've used it on my steak knife and it does the job perfectly. The suction cup takes some practice, but seems to work well when the surface is a little wet to begin with. I have to say that I'm getting a little nervous about using my knives now because I've always been a clumsy one and often cut, punch, smack and scrape myself.
