Review on AURORA Artist D Pro Independent X11 81X13 38 by Jessie Ritchie

Revainrating 3 out of 5

However, it's great for hobbyists who want to learn all the ins and outs.

I've heard a lot of good things about this printer that had a kick start. I saw the reviews and a lot of people said great things about the printer. I'll start with what I liked: it's pretty easy to assemble. The numbers on where things are going make it easy and straightforward. The packaging was great and I felt that no shipping would affect this printer. However, this printer requires a SERIOUS calibration by default. After spending an entire weekend leveling, fixing bugs, and watching tons of help videos, I finally got some deductions. The problem I kept finding was that extrusion was always disabled. Sometimes by 5mm, sometimes by -10mm. You just never knew. I ran test after test to measure the E pitch and calibrate it properly, but eventually found that the print head couldn't keep up with the stepper motors. What should have told me about the build quality was the X-axis nylon gears. The? The pre-assembled belt tensioner also required attention. I haven't even gotten to the best part, the second print head. To be honest, it looks more like a novelty than practicality. If you can't get an accurate extrusion, it's going to be terribly difficult to get accurate two-tone prints. My bed was also badly deformed for some reason? I removed the magnetic top plate and printed it with blue masking tape and it helped a lot? The bed also wobbles, so be sure to tighten it (there's a video on that). TL:DR: Great for those who just want to learn and don't care about print quality. Bad for people who value accurate prints. I returned mine because I think it doesn't work properly and may have been the only one I received, but I don't feel like doing it again and again with another printer from the same company.
