We use this filter in our office toilet for well water that hasn't previously been put through a softener. Typically, after a week of use, the sink will turn dark orange due to rust and minerals in the water (even with a 20 micron water filter). With this filter, however, it took almost two weeks for the color to turn orange. I can see on the filter that it's absorbing minerals as the white wires have turned orange. We don't have a lot of dirt in the water. The only complaint we had was the lack of water flow. If we flush the toilet and then try to wash our hands, there won't be much pressure because the filter doesn't allow the water to flow very quickly. Although this was to be expected. Due to complaints I will try a 5 micron filter. I would still recommend this filter if you are comfortable with slower water flow when using dual source water.
