I wasn't too concerned about a quick change on the road but I need to remove the front wheel to transport the bike in my van. So far I've only replaced the front axle, but everything is fine. Suggest you measure carefully before starting. I chose to use OEM bearing cones and nuts to ensure I had the same clearance. The thread came up to the original without any problems. I'm planning on replacing the rear cassette soon so I'm looking forward to this time to install the rear axle but I don't expect any problems as the front axle was so easy to make. The cam lever doesn't seem to have much travel, so you have to turn the finger nut a few turns each time to ensure a snug fit on the fork. I was hoping for easy one-push leverage, so I'm giving one star for that issue. Otherwise it does the job.
