Review on 🌶️ Peugeot 870422/1 Paris Classic 9-Inch Pepper Mill, Chocolate: Finely Ground Nostalgia for Flavorful Feasts by Jeff Kersey

***UPDATE*** 6/20/18 I called Peugeot Customer Service just after thinking this item really should work better. They forced me to send them my windmill for inspection. After viewing, they showed me (through photos) that the peppercorns (Walmart's Plain Black Pepper (Sam's choice)) I was using were TOO BIG. I had to use smaller ones. They loaded the grinder with the right size corn and gave me a bag of fillers for free. I tried it as soon as I received it and it works great. So if you have trouble with peppers, try smaller diameter peppercorns. You'll probably find it works quite well :) Now I'm pepper happy again! I'm still holding back a star as I feel the grinder shouldn't have a size limit but should be increased to 4. The photos show the original calluses compared to the smaller "correct" sizes. In addition, the mill can now grind from coarse to very fine. _____________________________ Initial review. Less functional than I expected for a world famous movement. Peugeot shredders are among the best. This does not live up to expectations. The grinder itself feels very good. The wood is beautiful and the construction is solid. The problem lies entirely in the mechanism. It seems peppercorns don't always end up in the grinder. So you spin the mill, crank the crank, and nothing seems to grind until you finally get the grains to hook and grind. This is probably what others are experiencing when describing uneven or out of control grinding. I just found that you need a little patience and a few extra twists to sand it properly. This brand shouldn't be. I have a few others that grind great from the first round, but they are much larger (and more expensive) than these. It's annoying and frustrating, but not enough to send him back. If this is your only grinder and you want a good one, spend a little more and go for this one. You won't be really happy with it.
