This product uses phosphate as a PH buffer. While it is an excellent PH buffer, it is also the main fuel for algal blooms. I have been using this product for about 4 days and have experienced heavy algae blooms. I solved the problem with the tank. However, I got serious problems with ammonia. I would have to do up to 6 water changes a day just to keep it below 4ppm. I finally found the problem with my external filter. I opened it and found a crust of dead, decomposing algae inside. After cleaning the filter, the tank is in perfect condition. This product does what it is supposed to do, but at what cost?
