I do not recommend: Kettles and tea makers

I really wanted to like the Leehoo kettle, but I didn't. I wasn't expecting the same features as more expensive temperature control kettles, but I expected them to work as advertised. That does not work. Pros: Heats up very quickly. Cons: Difficult to clean just the inside of the kettle and the spout. When I received it, I washed it with a mild detergent as directed, but it was a bit difficult to rinse out the interior and spout without getting the floor wet. It flows. Clean and simple. When I poured it into my cup, it spilled onto my countertop, so pouring it next to any part of your body (your legs if you're sitting) is a big no-no. Inside is a threaded end and a plastic element. I expect this to hold the heating element together. The manufacturer states that no plastic comes into contact with water. Not true. Biggest downside: It doesn't hold the temperature for 30 minutes as advertised. The heating element switches on and off periodically. It falls below the temperature you set, then rises to the desired temperature for a few seconds, but then continues to rise until it is well above the temperature you set. The cycle stops and the temperature falls again, forcing the cycle to start over, either falling or rising. In my experience, this drop in temperature when heating (besides triggering power consumption) leads to stale water and a sickening taste of tea. It reminds me of old fashioned hotplates that don't have temperature control. I hoped my search was over by purchasing a Leehoo electric kettle. No, that is not so. I'll keep looking and will send Leehoo back in the meantime.
