This pump was installed on a 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0 OHV engine and is a perfect fit. The pump was packaged well and looked like it would be a great replacement for the factory pump that ran dry twice (two separate hoses broke). Installation definitely requires the right tools. You will need a special pump puller and installation tool to install it between the motor and the cooling fan shroud. It's not an easy install and you don't have to do it multiple times. I hope this pump doesn't fail, but it's noisier than the factory pump it replaced. It also seems to be missing a bit of pressure. This part was installed with new hoses and a new rack and pinion. I can say with confidence that it is more difficult to rotate than on the old installation. Can't say for sure if the pumps are to blame or if the rack is tight. The fact that the pump sounds like it is struggling during normal operation is worrying. Overall: I would take this pump if you need to squeeze a little more out of your truck and don't want to splurge for it. If you want to avoid problems in the future you might consider OEM as I've often had to repair twice due to poor quality parts. I will update if the pump gets louder or fails.
