I replaced the dual USB socket on my motorcycle with this cigarette lighter socket. The USB socket kept dropping out so I figured a cigarette lighter would work better and I was right. The problem with the USB style is that they always draw current, so you have to connect them to the ignition circuit. The cigarette style is easier because you can plug it directly into the battery with a fusible cord and it doesn't draw power unless you have something plugged in. I use it to power my handlebar mounted action cam.
