My arms are paralyzed. left arm full and right arm 90% due to a rare neurological disorder in my spine. Opening cans is my number one enemy! I can't grab, let alone turn. I was able to customize and manipulate my hands to do many other things besides JARS. It becomes difficult for me to finish cooking when there is no one around to help. That's why I decided to use an electric can opener. I heard about it from my occupational therapist, but it took me years to finally get it. I wish I hadn't waited so long because this tool is heaven sent! When it arrived my son put the batteries in so I could try it out asap. It took about a week before I finally got it. I was making spaghetti and when I asked my husband to open a jar I remembered I bought an electric opener! The quality is good, in fact it's quite heavy for such a small thing. but it's easy to hold because of the big size. I didn't know how to use it yet, so I asked my husband to put it on the lid and press the button. (See video) I was curious how it works so I filmed it. As you can see in my video, it opened up pretty quickly. He slowly closed his claws until he reached the jar, then turned at slow speed, paused for a second, and then abruptly opened it! Super easy to use, just press a button on top and you're done! This required 2 AA batteries and as I won't be using them every day I'm sure these batteries will last a long time! A slight howl can be heard during operation, but that's so insignificant, the main thing is that it does what it's supposed to! Whoever came up with this is a genius and must have had a hard time opening cans. I'm very happy that this thing! I no longer need to ask for help or fight! The price was worth my independence to me!
