Review on Magnefine Magnetic Inline Transmission Steering by Chef Deane

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks Great - Filters

We have been using these filters on both the transmission and inline power steering filters on our minivans for the past two years. They appear to be well built, contain (in addition to the filter media) a powerful magnet (much larger than that in the transmission sump), and contain a bypass valve that opens at a relatively small pressure drop across the filter media (if present). ). in the right direction), so I'm not worried about flow restrictions at all. I have no proof of how effective they are in practice. I opened three of them and found nothing out of the ordinary. They didn't stop clutch wear particles from building up in the transmission fluid (although they do capture steel wear particles with their magnets), so we continued with regular fluid changes at the same intervals as without the in-line filter. Install the gear filter to the frame rail, I used a large worm gear fork, a bolt and a small piece of rubber as a washer around the bolt head to avoid denting the filter.

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • No Automatic
