Review on NetumScan USB 1D Handheld Barcode Scanner with Stand - Wired CCD Bar Code Reader Ideal for Sensing, Point of Sale (POS) Systems, Stores, Supermarkets, and Warehouses by Damian Grotting

default scanner. long cord. Good price. Stand not included

Wired barcode scanners are around $15 these days. This one is a bit more expensive due to the kickstand, but it still costs less than $20. The stand has no cables at all, it's just a weighted/adjustable stand and it's completely optional. A screwdriver is required to assemble the stand, it's quite simple, it only takes a minute or two. The scanner connects to Windows via plug-and-play. The scanner is as good as any other scanner we've used, fast and accurate. The length of the cord is approximately 6 feet (2 meters). Just to be clear: there's no wireless capability in it. Like every other scanner we've owned, it's programmable and comes with a booklet - for tweaking the tone, adding a leading zero and the like. If you lose the brochure, you can download it online. Many of these codes are universal. The cable is designed to withstand harsher conditions than a regular cable, which is good as it's always the cable that fails and not the device itself. But a long cable adds weight and puts some strain on the USB port in our experience, so be careful. It is best to connect it to a USB dock, a USB-connected keyboard or something similar.

Pros
  • ➤Wide Application - This NetumScan portable barcode scanner can be used in supermarket, convenience store, department store, library, bookstore, pharmacy, retail store for file management, inventory tracking and POS (Point of Sale) etc.

Works well as a trigger scanner, but can't get it to work in auto scan mode.
