This item has what appears to be a plastic shape-retaining inner wire whereas the original Frigidaire tube's inner shape-retaining wire was metal. I am not saying this is a negative, time will tell, but the original tube began cracking apart after a few years of usage. This plastic/composite inner ring could very well be a design improvement they came up with to make the tube last longer. Correct size for Frigidaire portable air conditioner w/ 5 inch exhaust vent and a better option than trying to McGuyver a 4 or 6 inch silver vent tube from the home improvement store (ask me how I know).
