I have pets - birds, cats, a dog and a turtle (although the turtle isn't very dirty). My home stove and air conditioner are often abused by the extra dust, hair, and dander from my pets. (Plus, I hate cleaning.) I actually had an airflow blocked over the summer because the AC coil was getting too dirty. I've used filters that were too cheap and they didn't do their job very well. Rather than face another huge repair bill, I decided to try better filters and bought them. ). I change them once a month (recommended by my DIY oven) and see a buildup of dirt (dust/hair/whatever) when I take them out so I know they're doing their job. I don't have airflow meters in my house, but if I put my hand near the vents when the stove fans are on, I can feel the warm air escaping at an acceptable (to me) rate. My apartment is always heated or cooled according to my thermostat settings. When my stove is on, cooking smells, pet smells, and even incense smells dissipate pretty quickly. And I think they should also remove some of the allergens from the air, because even though it's winter, I can breathe through my nose a little better than usual. My apartment is fairly small - kitchen/living room and two bedrooms - but these filters do everything I want or expect and are reasonably priced for the quality you get. Of course, they're not the absolute top of the range, but since I change them once a month, they work quite well and I'll most likely be buying more soon.
