These steps are great but I wasn't aware that double sided tape is required to attach them to the stairs and the steps came without glue. My friend didn't have the patience or the nails to remove the stripping required for each tread, but luckily for us I managed. of raw, half-rough wood on our stairs to the basement. Seems to be holding up well. By the time I got to the last step I had run out of tape but there was enough to run a strip through the center and get it working. I'm sure the instructions mention this, but of course I haven't read them. What disappointed me a bit was that there appeared to be a thin layer of plastic on the underside of each pad that had to be peeled off before the tape could be applied. There is a small piece on the corner of each step with an arrow for removing that extra layer, but this piece is separately glued to that extra layer and peels off without pulling on the plastic backing, making it impossible to get the extra layer of plastic on remove . In other words, a lot of peeling and a lot of unnecessary plastic waste that requires extra steps in the installation process. That extra piece of plastic can just stay put, and to be honest I'm not sure. one. Generally they are good and do their job.
