Review on ๐Ÿš˜ Monroe Quick-Strut 171662L: Efficient Strut and Coil Spring Assembly - Upgrade your Automotive Suspension! by Alex Foley

Fast attitude is the way to go.

I swapped out rear strut assemblies on my wife's Pontiac Grand Prix, which meant I had to dig through her extended purse (known in the rest of the world as a trunk) to get to the top three mounting nuts for the strut assembly. These quick-change carriers corresponded exactly to the original equipment. I would recommend a long breaker (about 36 inches) since the nuts on the lower arm bolts are torqued to 90 ft/lbs. Put the car on jack stands, remove the tires. and use a jack to raise and lower the control arm and strut assemblies to align all mounting hardware. I recommend tightening the top three nuts first, then raising or lowering the control arm with a jack to help align the bottom bolts. on the strut quick release before finally raising the jack to compress the strut and align the stabilizer bar bolt. The right torque is the key to safety. Upper Strut Nut Torque: 30 ft/lbs. Ant Arm Nut Torque: 26 ft./lb.
