Review on πŸ”’ Fellowes 3103201 Powershred W11C: Efficient 11-Sheet Cross-cut Paper and Credit Card Shredder with Safety Lock by Kenneth Harris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powerful and easy to empty (use a plastic bag). But noisy and top heavy

This is my second shredder purchase of this model after the first died after 5 years and 11 months. What I think killed it was destroying the credit card by single handedly inserting it directly over the security tab/switch in the paper slot. (In the future, I'll tape the plastic card away from the center so it doesn't go right over the counter.) I've used, owned, or looked at many paper shredders over the years. I've had larger professional models with higher capacity drawers and have owned (and discarded) cut sheet shredders that are inefficient because they only take cut sheets. or jam. or just create strips, which is not entirely safe to erase sensitive information. For me, a paper shredder needs to be powerful enough to shred multiple sheets of paper with staples. And it should be ready to use and empty quickly. Everything else is up for discussion. That's why I bought this chopper again (fortunately it's still around after 5 years) and here are its cons. Disadvantages: grinds well, does not jam. Easy to empty - tip: the paper container fits in a standard plastic bag. The acceptable capacity for home use is to be emptied once a week. Cons: Loud - this thing screams...for a long, uninterrupted period of time. The slab is heavy - to clean you have to remove the heavy slab and put it on the floor (or somewhere else). Aside from being heavy, there are a few hanging parts that you have to pick up by hand. Bag, due to annoying noise levels and a heavy lid that needs to be removed for cleaning. I can put some papers down and go. I can empty this thing in less than 30 seconds without worrying about a mess of random bits of paper falling out into a different bin as it is emptied. And that's why I bought this chopper again.

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • Damaged
