This is my second shredder purchase of this model after the first died after 5 years and 11 months. What I think killed it was destroying the credit card by single handedly inserting it directly over the security tab/switch in the paper slot. I used my previous Fellowes chopper for over 15 years before it started choking and couldn't handle what I was feeding it. Maybe I should have oiled more often.
