Review on ⚡️ Versatile Voltage Detector: 5 to 1000VAC, 5 In. L - Reliable Testing Tool for Electrical Applications by Jorge Maertz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too sensitive and not very consistent, DANGER, DO NOT BUY

I liked this thing at first (used it for about a year) but it's so unstable and drains batteries so fast its accuracy is ALWAYS suspect, and unlike Milwaukee or Flir, totally unique/unreliable at mains voltage, even worse at low voltage (less than 50VAC). . Spend more money and get something more reproducible, your life may depend on it. . Too bad, I really wanted this thing to be liked/used. . The TIC tracer I bought in the 80's and used for 10 years still works but it's pretty broken and way bigger than this thing but I never have to wonder if the tester is testing or not. . and they don't anymore. . . . Sigh Sometimes pocket clips in plastic sleeves don't keep things in your pocket, this clip WORKS. . Loose change until you're under the house, roll over in the mud, reach down, and it's in a pile of cat poo somewhere. . . . Love the light as well as the beep, love that it's adjustable but the sensitivity setting isn't very predictable so you always have to stop and check it for something else that looks like a calibration (I KNOW you can should do anyway, but still). I like that it uses a battery which is easy and cheap to get (AAA but get a good one) and not a button. Added 5 months later. . the cap may come off. . . I use 33+ tape so I don't lose it. . Greenlee's customer service is fantastic. . exchanged the defective product immediately and wished me a good day.
