Had extremely painful shingles really bad on my chest and back. Used this cream and it provided some relief. It is not a cure or pain medication but kept the skin cool and prevented shirt fabric from rubbing across the blisters. It is more of a discomfort aid than anything else. It will not speed up your recovery but helps make things a bit less uncomfortable. Good value for the price. Also I found wearing a 90% cotton and 10% polyester shirt was the best. All cotton or all polyester was uncomfortable - for what its worth.
