Perfect repair on doors

I use these on a 250 F250. you want them They are ideal for repairing the aging rubber boots on the ends of these cables. Climbing through the door is an adventure in itself, but after hearing many people in reviews saying they had to cut or grind the cable jacket to install, I thought I'd share my installation method. The key is heat. As you can see from one of my photos, you cannot click them as they are. After checking the cables slide easily into the slot (one had to widen the hole a bit with a flathead screwdriver), then I heated the new ends with a flashlight, fitted them and quickly quenched them in some water, done making sure the cable held up still moved. This process ensures that the ends are securely attached to the cable so they don't move. When reinstalling in the door I had to adjust the end of the cable clip a bit to get the handles to open the door but I am very happy with this repair. It seems very safe, so I know it's one thing in my truck I won't have to think about again. Here are a few notes. Things will get hot using this method, so don't burn yourself. The tongs are also hot, so cool them too. Do not slide your hands over the cable so that they touch hot parts. In general, be careful.
