This seller and other similar sellers should reconsider their advertising. This and similar products are not silencers, but diffusers. You're not going to "turn the volume down," so to speak, at least not noticeably. If you want a near-silent industrial vacuum cleaner, you need to put it in a housing that reduces noise. As a diffuser it works very well. My shop vacuum's exhaust went from a directed hurricane blast to a harmless exhaust with no noticeable loss of performance. Without a diffuser, my vacuum's exhaust is powerful enough to cause a mess if it's accidentally directed into an area with sawdust, dust, and debris. The filter can be easily removed for cleaning. My only criticism is that it's longer than I'd like, but not long enough to cause problems. Good product and works as advertised for *diffusion* exhaust.
