The Las Vegas heat can't beat this thing

This is my second Compcooler backpack. I had the old version and used it almost every summer day in Las Vegas for 3 years riding my motorcycle until the pump finally broke. I fixed the pump, after that he died again. Time for a new package. This updated package fixes many of the issues that the original suffered from. First, it's the bladder. I know there are some complaints about leaks but let's be honest - nothing is perfect and you can get a replacement. Keep in mind that this is a $230 cooling system as opposed to other $600+ ones. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised that my bladder is still not leaking. The old backpack had a much cheaper bladder and the hose connections were terrible. This updated version fixes many of the original issues, most notably the ability to easily remove the bladder for easier filling. In general, the packaging is not as thick as the previous one, but it is higher. I wear it under a motorcycle jacket (backless) and it's quite comfortable. While this pack only comes with a 2 liter bottle, you can get a 3 liter bottle. If you're going to be in the desert heat for a long time, get thisโ€”a fully frozen three-pack will last several hours in the Vegas heat. It's also a good idea to have an extra bottle in case you run out (or if you don't intend to leave the house until a 2 liter bottle is definitely lighter when frozen). Velcro straps are almost the same as the old model and hold up well. I like that the pump's power button has been moved so that it comes out of the top of the pack (it used to go through a loop on the velcro and would sometimes fall out if I pulled the velcro very tight). The new pump has a USB port - this is used to power the pump. I only tested it for a minute or so to make sure that's what it's for, as the manual doesn't mention it at all. Since the USB voltage is only 5V and the battery is higher (about 7.5V), I'm not sure if this will affect the operation of the pump. Of course, if your battery is dead and your motorcycle has a USB battery pack or USB charging, you can plug it in as a last resort. The battery is the same as the old version. These are workhorses. They probably last 6 to 8 hours of continuous use. I liked the placement of the battery better on the old backpack - it was on the opening flap, not behind the bladder. Also, the battery compartment is quite narrow, making it more difficult to insert and remove than the old package. Not very difficult, but not as good as the older one. Probably on the plus side as it's further inwards there's less chance of it getting warm in the scorching sun. The biggest problem is that if you need to replace the battery with the bladder in place, it's a bit harder to get to and you'll have to at least partially remove the bladder to get to it now. Pump location - I understand why the bottom of the pack, but it's not protected from getting wet (from condensation or spills). It's okay if it gets a little wet, but over time it can start to rust inside. This is one of two issues I had with my old pack's pump (the other was hard water buildup, which I can't blame the compcooler for). hot is MUCH better. And yes, it even works in wet weather (which happens here in summer when we have rainy season). However, summer humidity in Vegas isn't comparable to Florida, so I can't say how well it will work there. I would definitely recommend this to anyone if asked.
