Do you have a home network? If yes, then YOU NEED IT.

My home network has grown to two wireless routers, two switches, three DVRs, an Xbox and four computers. God, it didn't seem complicated until I thought about it. I've had network issues from time to time that resulted in me resetting my routers and switches and possibly trying to disconnect, reconnect and restart devices. Enough to be annoying as it worked most of the time. I spent an hour using this simple device and loved it. It doesn't get any easier; the source will light up lights 1-8 in sequence, and if everything is OK, then 1-8 on the box (if a patch cord is plugged into both holes) or dongle (when checking the installed cable) will also light up in sequence. I found that 4 out of 11 wires and connectors had problems including a commercial cable that I never would have thought of. Let's just say I now have a lot of respect for Magic Boxes' ability to work with tangled cables; Having had this network for years, I now don't know how it ever worked. Now everything is fine with my connected world thanks to this device. If you are going to buy a crimping tool and RJ-45 plugs, the next step should be to buy them. Now I won't even use an off-the-shelf cable without testing it with this device. It gives you great results, a proven network, and security for a reasonable price.
