I can assure you and Weeverer that those vents are unnecessary. And when I have full control over the .

These pots really do last forever. I have a set that has been in daily use since 2001 and has no intention of failing. I ordered a set for the house for the winter. The new set has an improvement over the old set. The large skillet is now stainless steel. The large skillet in my 2001 set was non-stick and had to be thrown away after a few years. And I think nicer handles. For some reason the new set also has vent holes in the lids. After sixteen years of daily use of the 2001 set, I can assure the Wearever staff and you that these vents are unnecessary. And if I had full control over the product, I would choose stainless steel lids over glass for guaranteed wear and tear. If you have a ceramic tile floor or cast iron sink in your kitchen, it's only a matter of time before the glass lid slips out of your hands during washing or use, ruining that wear standard. Clear lids aren't that useful, even if they stay clear throughout the cooking process, like who cares? And often they still quickly fog up to light transmission in real use. And they are an accident waiting in the wings. Now the spouts are on the pots! Why would anyone even try to make, buy or use pots without a spout? I think these pans need spouts.
