Review on πŸ”ͺ DMD Double Sided Sharpening Whetstone - The Ultimate Professional Tool for Perfect Edge Enhancement by Michael Godo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive workmanship and quality

I have tried several diamond sharpening products in the past but have not been satisfied with them either because of the limited ability to make knives of all sizes or the complexity of assembly. This stone leaves them all in the dust to sharpen dull knives (I say dull and not chipped because 400 isn't enough to remove metal fast enough). Its size can handle any edge size you can put on it. I'm amazed at the quality of these $22 and can't imagine the expensive versions of them being worth the outrageous prices. I've used it to sharpen pocket knives, serrated kitchen knives, chisels and scissors. All with excellent results. A few tips I've learned to make it super easy to use and maintain: - If you've never hand sharpened before, don't expect great results right away and practice with cheap or old knives first or you'll make them ugly make it look. Your fingers and hands need time to build muscle memory to maintain a consistent sharpening angle. Also remember that higher quality steels offer and retain sharper edges than cheap metal in dollar store knives. Get the base to pick up the stone from the desktop. Better yet, spend a few extra dollars and get a flushing bridge to flush out dirt as you work and make cleaning easier. Clean with soap, hot water and a soft brush. dry with a towel and then stand upright to dry completely. Rust may appear on the surface after use, especially on the 400 grit side Rust stains are easily removed with Bartender's Friend's Powder and a soft brush, I use an old toothbrush. The stone gives the blade a very thin edge, but sharpening brings the blade to life and makes it sharp for shaving. If you don't sharpen your blades I can guarantee you will be unhappy with any product you purchase. I would like this company to make this stone in coarse and ultra fine grit as well. I would buy them immediately. You will not regret this purchase.
