I'm looking for someone with a computer science degree

I wanted to install a U-Blox 7 GPS sensor, use Open CPN as navigation software and set sail. Well, not this year. It seems that the GPS "sensor" is not compatible with Windows 10 without loading the VCP (Virtual Communication Port). On the U-Blox website they offer a VCP with an .EXE extension, but when it's downloaded it's not an exe file, it's something called (file 10) . I think you get the picture. That's just not me, the internet is full of blogs from people facing the same problems. Open CPN on my computer, loaded all necessary graphics and plugins as needed. If you use OpenCPN, I strongly recommend you to use a different GPS antenna if your PC doesn't support GPS and is running Windows 10. Why 2 stars. However, I was able to get the software they provided to see how the antenna worked and the latitude and longitude were accurate. However, I spent over 4 hours trying to get around the difference between the device and the sensor. Eventually they provided 2 different email addresses for help, I sent emails to both with no response.

Pros
  • Antennas
Cons
  • Some errors
