I was afraid it wouldn't keep me warm enough but in the 70F seas I used it was fine (I'm more sensitive to cold than average). My core was warm enough. The sleeveless structure makes a huge difference and saves my shoulders the extra work the sleeves put on them. I did not increase the size. It wasn't easy to close it the first few times. To do this alone, I had to bend down so the wall covered one side of the zipper, pull to make room to close it with my free hand, and pull the zipper up firmly. Now that I've worn it a few times, it closes perfectly. Not easy, but not particularly difficult either. I simply stretch the front so the sides come together, then use my free hand to lower the base and tighten the top.
