I put both supports at the height of the band saw table. But one support on the floor, the other on a half inch rubber mat. Inside the outer square tube is an inner welded full length wedge. The downward adjustment by pulling the handle back is very precise; I'm guessing a few thousandths of an inch is possible, much less than 32 or 64. I suspect it has to do with the crank thread pitch, once learned you can do fractional turns of the crank for quick adjustment. Set the locksmith's flymeter, then observe the result of a quarter turn of the crank. Because the weldment is a wedge, there is no slippage. Excellent investment!
