Review on ๐ŸŽถ Enhance Your Audio Experience with Music Hall Acri-Plat Acrylic Platter by Nicholas Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Happy to report it works!

Replaced the heavy metal plate on my mmf5.1se Music Hall (with a good MC truck) and cut off the bass resonance a bit! Especially when using a clamp. To make sure I don't just THINK I'm hearing tighter bass when playing music, I place the stylus on a stationary (non-spinning) record. With the original metal plate + leather mat, my sub woofer started vibrating at 45% amp volume. Then, using an acrylic plate with no clamp, I cranked the volume up to about 55% before feedback started to appear. Then, using the clamp ALONG with the acrylic, it went up to 70% consistently with no feedback at all! I repeated the test 4 times with both plates and the clamp to make sure it wasn't a fluke. In fact the clamp made the metal plate vibrate WORSE than without it, I don't know how THAT works but. every time Guess it goes with metal and exaggerates, but combined with acrylic it helps cut down. Sometimes the audiophile world is littered with snake oil, but this record absolutely dissipates some of the bass resonance. I couldn't hear any difference in the highs (at least with my setup), but at least cleaning up the bass always leaves cleaner mids and highs. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you already have the module and speakers you want!

Pros
  • Not just usable for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Minor issues
