Review on Atlantic 38435713 Oskar Media Wall by Sharonda Guzman

Perfect for physical media lovers

I bought this to store my extensive CD collection. I store all my hard drives in one block. If all shelves are used, the unit's CD capacity is fully utilized with a DVD-height shelf at the top (see photo). If you have more than one row of DVDs, there are shelves. The device consists of 15 mm thick chipboard covered with an almost black, thin, wood-like laminate (melamine?). Adjustable shelves are made of 10mm thick masonite type fibreboard. The device is slightly deeper than a CD or DVD. The adjustable shelves are not that deep, so the media extends about 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the shelves (see photo). I'm assuming you can use this to just delete your media files, but I'd prefer it to go deeper. The back consists of two thin hardboards. Each is cut and folded for packaging. As a result, each of them has two noticeable seams (see photo). Placed against a wall, the device was stable, but you might want to use the included safety mounts, especially if you live in a seismic country or have young children. Assembly was easy with proper instructions. If you have already assembled flatpacks (e.g. from Ikea) you shouldn't have any problems. If not, you can call a friend. Screws, cam locks and nails for the back are used for assembly. You will need at least a hammer and a #2 Phillips screwdriver. If you are wall mounting the brackets, you will also need a drill. Pros: Holds lots of discs. Adaptable for CD, DVD and Blu-Ray. Looks good but not high quality furniture. Stable. Cons: Media hangs over shelves. The seams are visible on the back. Assembly required.
