I installed it myself. I'm not a plumber but some basic knowledge, skill and patience is required. Installation takes around 2+ hours if you go slow and deliberate and follow all the instructions carefully. You will need 1) a drill, 2) drill bit, 3) a Phillips screwdriver, and 4) a small adjustable wrench. If you don't have a 1 inch diameter hole available, you'll also need to drill one of those with a custom metal drill bit. "Flow Restrictor" with a 90 degree angle into the center reverse osmosis cartridge (I almost skipped this step myself). The faucet is made of metal with a high-quality finish and feel. I received a nickel that pretty much matches my brushed stainless steel sink.
