Could have been the tool I needed but wasn't for two reasons. Because the tight space I had to deal with didn't go through the hole to get to the pistons. Second, the two halves of the handle that were meant to press against the inside of the piston were offset from the end of the tool, making the metal they were attached to a point of contact. Perhaps this would not have been the case if I had been able to thread the tool through the hole provided. Despite the problems I was having, I pulled the pistons out by applying enough force to the piston walls. I was impressed that the tool was powerful enough to actually work this way. Definitely not how it was intended, but it worked. In summary, if you don't need to use this tool on a '75 Norton Commando caliper, you'll probably be very happy with it.
