Very important. You should have a shirt with a "pointy collar". This does not mean that the shirt has peaks at the end of the collar, but rather that the peaks of the collar point DOWN towards your chest and not towards your shoulders or shoulders as is the case with "open collar". Otherwise the collar panel will not reach both ends of the collar or will not hold when it reaches. Other than that I am very happy with these collars. They can be difficult to put on due to their tightness, but that also means the tightness prevents them from slipping down. The ball ends look particularly good and the bar holds the knots of my tie, which looks very classy and elegant. This is a great product as it is almost impossible to find shirts with small holes in the collar. These collar trims go with any shirt with a pointed collar. I'm glad I ordered them at a great price.
