I recently replaced a set of IPM-721S P/T cameras with IP5M-T1179E turret cameras as I have found that the wider field of view and improved optics of the turret cameras are much better suited to my work. I recently became aware of the 5MP version of the turret camera and wanted to know what it was all about. What immediately catches the eye are the two IVS sensors, which are significantly larger than conventional IR lamps. They are linked to advanced software features and help deliver the Colors at Night experience. I unpacked the camera and set it up in minutes. SETUPSetting up is easy if you're upgrading an existing camera. I set it up quickly using the interface provided by the NV4116-HS NVR I'm using and then fine-tuned the settings using the onboard camera settings. I completed the setup by blocking the IP and MAC addresses on my router for additional protection against external threats and IP address spoofing. OPERATION Once set up, the camera is set and forgotten. A higher resolution sensor doesn't consume much bandwidth thanks to the adaptive H265 protocol. The IP67 housing is weatherproof, but I still park my gear under the eaves. To protect against the weather, the device has cable protection for RJ45 connections. The camera also supports PoE, eliminating the need for multiple cables to the camera. In addition to the normal network connection, there are P2P functions that allow you to call the camera from anywhere. That's what has always impressed me about Amcrest. AI INTERFACE The camera has an advanced motion detection system, which is incredible for a camera in this price range. I'm still experimenting with different settings and seeing how it responds. Only in the "Motion Detection" recording scenario does it work very well and I didn't miss an event.
